PROGRAMS

Pregnant Teens Transitional Housing (PTTH)

Assist pregnant teens and young parents with leading an independent lifestyle.  It is designed to uplift a wide range of survivors (commonly referred to as people with disabilities, physically and emotionally abused youth).  It explores the concept of independent thinking, decision-making and creative problem-solving.  The Life Center teaches the importance of discipline, self-reliance, managing money, staying healthy and setting goals.

Parental Assistance Center (PAC)

Supports educationally and economically challenged parents in teaching and nurturing their child(ren).  It consists of a group (participants with similar parenting issues and problems) led by a parent-as-teacher mentor who is here to advise, counsel, enhance and support the participants in their parenting skills.

Literacy Plus Programs

This program provides academic and recreational instruction to students that enhance and expand educational goals.  Through small, weekly groups, various subjects are taught as a supplement to what is being learned through formal education.  Resume writing, interviewing techniques and job skills are also provided in the program.

                               WHO WE ARE

ANDERSON LIFE DEVELOPMENT CENTER AT A GLANCE

Our Mission

The mission of Anderson Life Development Center is to assist youth that are aging out of foster care with the necessary tools to start a new time in their life with their children and to instill in them the confidence that they need to succeed as productive members of society.  ALDC will create leaders from participants and challenge them to lead their communities to greater heights through dedication and service.  We provide positive alternatives through which goals are created and maintained.  The impossibilities of the past becomes the opportunities of the hallmark of ALDC. ALDC is committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by young adults transitioning out of foster care.  We recognize that this critical period in their lives requires comprehensive support in various areas, including stability.

Our Purpose

The need for our services is substantial.  Without proper support, young adults aging out of foster care often face significant challenges such as homelessness, unemployment, and limited educational opportunities.  At Anderson Life Development Center we have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact that our program has had on the lives of these young adults.  Through our comprehensive approach, we have seen increased educational attainment, improved employment outcomes and enhanced overall well-being.
